Sipping on Ginger Juice

I should know better by now.

It's inevitable that when you say you'll NEVER do something, you're guaranteed to find yourself doing exactly that.

So of course when I was coaching my students on how to write a great newsletter, and admonished them not to be that fitness studio that sends out a marketing email that includes a smoothie recipe, I should have known I was opening the doors to chaos.

Of course, this would be the week that I find the best kitchen hack ever, become obsessed with the process and the product, and tell everyone I know about the best way to make ginger juice.

I know that you've come to expect a mini-workout, or a fresh, thoughtful perspective on movement from these emails, but this week I'm going to share a different way to make yourself feel great.

Yes, it's the famous ginger juice. SO easy to make, and so delicious. When Iran ( my husband) had a shot, he noted that it was similar to tequila (maybe that's why I love it) and it DOES have that same kick.

You can mix this with soda water, green juice or drink it straight . Add the ice cubes or the juice to any drink ( hot or cold).

I've made you a 1 minute video that shows the entire process, but for those of you who like to skim, the instructions are below :

Take 1 lb of fresh unpeeled ginger root and wash it . Cut/break it down into smaller chunks and fill your blender. Cover it with water. Add flavoring - I like lemon (peel and juice) and some sweetener but the possibilities for experimentation are endless. Blend it well. Pour it through a sieve, and use a spoon to extract all the juice. The pulp separates easily and leaves little to no mess. Pour the juice into an ice cube tray, and keep the excess in a jar in your fridge for quick shots.

That's it!

Simple as that for a zingy, invigorating beverage.

We will return to regular programming next week, and stay tuned for updates about an online Gyrotonic class series, and an introductory package of Whole Body Vibration classes on the LifePro.
